Virginia married Finton Bridges on January 30, 1946 in DeQueen, AR. She was a member of the Golden Baptist Church. She enjoyed making ceramic figurines, canning, cooking and crochet. She was involved with the Golden Senior Citizens and was their cook. Virginia always looked forward to special family occasions. She loved her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Sam and Polly Engler; three sons, Danny Bridges, Phillip Wayne Bridges and James Samuel (Jimmy) Bridges; one brother, Lyndon Engler and one sister, Cora Ellen Belyeu.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Finton Bridges of the home; her four sons, Charles Bridges and wife Ruby, Valliant, OK, David Bridges and wife, Evelyn, DeQueen, AR, Donald Bridges and wife, Brigette, Atlanta, GA, Kip Bridges and wife Sheila, Redland, OK; four brothers, Mondell Engler, Howe, TX, Bill Engler, Virdell Engler and Vence Engler all of Golden, OK; two sisters, Varennes Tomlinson and Darlene Gibson both of Golden, OK; ten grandchildren, Phillip Bridges, Linda Choate, Tabitha Bridges, Linda Bridges, Shawna Cupit, Brandon Bridges, Christopher Bridges, Brenton Cantley, Breann Cantley, Sheleena Rodgers and Hannah Bridges; eleven great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at the Golden Baptist Church, Golden, OK. Bro. Mark McGeehee will officiate. Interment will follow at Glover Cemetery, Glover, OK.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday from 7-8 PM at Brumley Funeral Home, Broken Bow.
