John Henry Tidmore was born July 7, 1945 in Alikchi , OK to Hezekiah Columbus “Lum” and Jennie Mae (Curtis) Tidmore and had lived all of his life in McCurtain County . He graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1963 and got his first job at the age of eighteen at Texas Eastern Oklahoma Railroad. In 1972 he was promoted to Section Crew Boss and remained in that position until 1992. When he left the railroad and his love for automobiles became his full time occupation, he opened the used car dealership Tidmore’s Auto Sales in Valliant. He was baptized at a young age and his faith only grew stronger. John preached and attended services at the Eastside Church of Christ in Valliant. He was known as “Papa John” to his family. John is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rhonda Lou Tidmore; four brothers, Fred, Jewell, David and Jerry Tidmore; two sisters, Lillie Mae Ward and Evelyn Williams.
His survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Minerva “Sissy” and Gary Brewer, one grandson John Tidmore, and one granddaughter Nikki Oliver all of Wright City, OK; the mother of his children, Suzie Chesney of Wright City, OK; one brother and sister-in-law Frank and Amabel Tidmore of Wright City, OK; three sisters, Emma Tatum of Oak Hill,OK, Dorothy Imoe of Valliant, OK and Minnie Lewis of Valliant, OK; a very special friend Dolores Harcrow of Valliant, OK and her family and special family friends Roberta and Glen Vanstavern of Springfield, MO, along with his special domino buddies, cousins, nephews, nieces and other extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 25, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Services are planned for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Valliant Northside Church of Christ. The Rev. Barney Owens will be officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Stanley Owens. Interment will follow services at the Valliant Cemetery.
